How it started

Two brothers. Two states. One standard worth building.

Joel and Nathan McEntee both started in the home service space right out of high school, Joel in Bozeman, Montana, and Nathan in Fresno, California. Each ran their own separate installation business for two years. Both saw the same problem: the permanent lighting market lacked a true S-tier product, and every system on the market came with the same compromises.

Joel sold his Bozeman company. Nathan merged and rebranded his Fresno operation. Together, they partnered with a manufacturer and a team of product and software engineers to build the lighting system the market was missing, and to install it themselves through a growing portfolio of company-owned locations and a national dealer network.

That partnership is bluEmber.

Joel is the public face of bluEmber. You'll see him in the creative, on the videos, and on job sites across every bluEmber location, though he's primarily based out of the Oahu, Hawaii branch, where he lives with his wife Trinity. Joel scaled and sold his first home service company before going all in on permanent lighting. He thinks at national scale, moves fast, and never builds small.

Nathan McEntee

Cofounder. Operations & Wholesale.

Nathan is the operator. Head down, hands dirty, every day. He's been an installer since high school and now runs bluEmber's wholesale distribution program along with the flagship installation branch in California's Central Valley. The visionary behind how bluEmber actually gets built and delivered, Nathan is the reason every job goes out clean and every dealer gets supported. Based in Fresno, California, where he lives with his wife Karis and their son.
